Healing

Rachel Naomi Remen M.D. is a woman I greatly admire.  If you haven't read her books, Kitchen Table Wisdom: Stories that Heal, and My Grandfather's Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge, and Belonging, you're in for a treat, and if you have, they are always fresh and inspiring on each re-visit.  You can read about her here.

She writes:

We thought we could cure everything, but it turns out that we can cure only a small amount of human suffering. The rest of it needs to be healed and that’s different.

I remember the first time I learned the difference between healing and curing.  I was in a training to participate in a healing circle.  We were told, so as not to build false hope, that our intention was to heal, not cure.  Obviously, a cure would be wonderful, but healing is about wholeness, and that is where we worked.  There is relief in that, surrender.  May your day round into wholeness, sweetly inspired, deeply blessed.
