And it seemed we were safe and then, last night at 7:45 there was a large boom. It didn't feel like an earthquake though. It turns out it was a meteor. We are in the midst of the Orionid meteor showers. It sounded like thunder and some saw the flash. The next three nights will be good ones for looking for meteors.
This morning at 6 I was out enjoying the black sky and stars but I didn't see any shooting ones. I'll be looking through the next few nights though.
If you love the book Charlotte's Web, which who wouldn't, I have a book to recommend. It is The Story of Charlotte's Web by Michael Sims. He gives us E.B. White from childhood on, and shows the intricacies of writing a book like this. It's a beautiful read and gives a whole new appreciation of the book and the man who wrote it.
Meanwhile enjoy the night. The skies are alight.
