City Lights Bookstore

When Katy and I took the ferry over to SF on Wednesday, we spent a great deal of time in City Lights Bookstore.  I bought two books, Me, Who Dove Into the Heart of the World by Sabina Berman, and Where the Heart Beats by Kay Larson.  I just realized both concern the heart. Perhaps I was inspired by the wonderful heart sculptures that enliven SF by demonstrating how people leave their hearts here, as they raise money for a good cause.  http://www.sfghf.net/hh/hearts_and_artists.html

I recommend both books with the warning on the first one that you may become a vegetarian after reading it.  You will certainly immerse differently in this world we share.

I'm just beginning Where the Heart Beats, as I spend some time digesting these two quotes.

"To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of the arts." Henry David Thoreau

"I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas.  I'm frightened of the old ones." John Cage

May you affect the quality of this day as you let go of the old and beckon the new.
