Resurrecting Love -

Last night my neighborhood book group met. We had read Love Cemetery by China Galland, and were grateful she could attend the meeting.  We were all deeply touched by the book, and grateful for this gathering to discuss it.  One member's ancestors were slaves, and her family still owns the tract of land that is the cemetery for her family.  I hadn't realized that when the slaves were freed, many of them worked to own their own land.  Then, it was taken away.  This is what happened to my friend's family.  All they have left of the land they once owned is the cemetery.

Last night was an honoring of the native people who were here, and those who were brought here as slaves.   The history needs to be made clear, and China clarifies touchingly well because the story is personal for her.  She wants to know her roots and the roots of the land where her family lived and thrived.  She is an explorer, a connector, a healer.   Her heart radiates peace and compassion.

China is now making a documentary to bring this cause of connecting to our roots and honoring our ancestors to wider attention.  You can check it out here and donate if you are so inclined.  This involves years of work, and the intention is healing for us all.
