Yesterday, a woman's bright yellow truck got stuck on our road. She was trying to navigate what she thought was wisely and instead slipped, backed up, and was caught by a tree.
She called AAA and they came out and saw the road and said it wasn't paved and they couldn't help her.
She called a friend with a truck who managed to haul her car away from the tree and up to safety.
The tree is fine and happy to be of help. We purposely deteriorate our road, because we don't want it to be a speedway. It is privately maintained, by us, which means we often aid the potholes. It is a curious balance. I am sorry she got stuck but there actually is a path. How much do we smooth our roads to aid others, when the roughness and inaccessibility may be just what we need? Just a thought as we wait for rain and the voice of nature that speaks in rounds.
