I spoke with a woman today who takes care of the office at a local elementary school. She spoke of how much the schools have to take care of now, of how they have to take over where parenting leaves off. One child at her school was left by his mother at a park. She just left him there and took off. He is in foster care, but comes to the office each day wanting to call his mother. It is so sad.
Many of us have a wonderful Mother's Day, but tonight my thoughts are with those women who couldn't stay with mothering for whatever reason, with all those who gave up their children, and with the children. Tonight is for them.
