I think we need to look at what Palin's candidacy says about America. On Bill Maher last night, the three panelists made it very clear that we are looking at the end of this country's role as a leader, unless we elect Obama and, then, maybe he can pull us back into intelligent relationship and negotiation with the rest of the world. Bob Woodward was on and said the surge had nothing to do with our supposed "success" in Iraq. It seems we handed out little secret goodie packages or something like that. Though it is our money, it is a secret, and we can't actually know what supposedly led to success, but it was not the surge. Also, it is very clear that anyone who thinks all this money can be spent without the raising of taxes must think Palin knows the meaning of the words and phrases she spouts.
I know that empires end. It is the natural order. I just expected this one to last through my lifetime. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither did it fall in a day. To see this country so quickly dismantled is shocking. I wonder if we are all a little bit stunned right now.
