This also explains the extremely high tides. Perhaps it is unreasonable to expect the roads to accommodate unusual times of year.

Certainly it is unrealistic if one lives here. I am used to checking the tides before I attempt to walk on the bike path which was well under water yesterday with birds happily afloat on winter cheer.
