Thoughts -

This morning I was thinking about reading with three year old Zach.  After we read Good Night Bush, we read The Poky Little Puppy's First ChristmasThe Donkey's Dream and Zen Shorts by Jon J. Muth.   Each book is about being a "good" person and interacting, connecting, and sharing.  One has a non-denominational focus, the other, a Christian, and the third, a Buddhist.

I couldn't help noticing the difference between the books for children and the one about Bush.  We are careful with what we give to our children, with how we expose and socialize them.   The books we read to them are about the joys of giving, and, in that, receiving.   What happens to then so distort?  When does a child lose their innocence?   Will Zach ever lose it?   He takes everything in and so clearly believes in the benefits of being a "good" person, in thinking of others besides himself.

I've been thinking if we all go back to how we were at three, the world might be a very different place.
