I've been reading about Stoicism, the philosophy of Marcus Aurelius, one of the great leaders of all time.
As I understand it, one way to find appreciation is to imagine things differently, to imagine our home gone and those we love gone and in that we appreciate the moments as they are. I think the financial situation has many of us realizing how different things might be, and gives us an appreciation for what is, now, and now, and now. It also allows me to feel what bubbles so sweetly within. I love that place inside, bubbling warmly and colorfully, like one of those old-fashioned Christmas lights.
My son and his wife were in Hawaii recently, and he rented a hobie cat and sailed between islands and a whale came right up to the boat. Imagine that, and in some ways, we are always sailing between islands, and maybe a whale will come up to our boat and give us a deepening taste of what resides in the sea within.
