Looking at ourselves -
There is a controversy this year at the SF Jewish Film Festival, the showing of a film that did not create a disturbance in NYC.

Rachel Corrie's mother is going to speak after the showing of the film about the death of her daughter. I have not seen the film, but do think the subject needs to be examined and that we can't bulldoze over the causes for her death with the same lack of awareness and sensitivity that killed her.
Each of us needs to look at our own actions and words and come to some accountability for ourselves. I believe nations need to do that too. I think the U.S. needs to take responsibility for its actions. We all know emotions ride high and I think all this with Henry Louise Gates Jr. and Sgt. James Crowley and the president now inviting them both to the White House for a beer, shows how things might be settled and discussed.
We have to invite discussion and to make movies that show different sides of a problem. Without that, how do we come to some sense of justice, some understanding that each group of people may feel they have a "side," and somewhere, we need to defuse and find solutions of peace.
