Last weekend I picked tomatoes in Jeff and Jan's garden and today in Penny and Tom's. We were handed a bag today and told to go out in the garden and take what we wanted. I felt I was on an Easter egg hunt as I peeked and peered through leaves and vines. The last time I was at Penny and Tom's, they had a swimming pool but they wanted a garden, so the pool was filled with dirt and now beds have been raised and worm castings added and it is like paradise. Last weekend and this I was awed with this miracle of growth. There is dirt and then green and then food. I know there is work in between, preparation of the soil and nurturing and it is a most sacred rite to watch this growth, and then, be invited into a garden to give a little squeeze, to pluck, inhale, and taste. My bounty is now home. I am blessed!
Even after being at the beach most of the day yesterday, Zach didn't want to go inside, so they went to an outdoor restaurant and then he and Gpa slept outside. The days are getting shorter and I felt the air change around six so the fog will come in tonight and still we are enjoying sleeping outside. I feel so refreshed as though I'm wiggling attachment to a vine.
