When I stood on the shore of Mono Lake yesterday and reflected on how the native people lived, after peeking into one of their reconstructed temporary structures in the museum, I wondered how it would feel to be called a Native American, when America was not the name of this land when Columbus arrived. It is a day to celebrate Indigenous People and how they honored this land.
