Lawrence Le Shan - "Getting cancer can become the beginning of living. The search for one’s own being, the discovery of the life one needs to live, can be one of the strongest weapons against disease."
Kurt Vonnegut - “Consider the life of the yeast cell. All it ever does is eat, eliminate, and reproduce. Eat, eliminate and reproduce. It never knows it’s making champagne.”
Viktor Frankl - "Perhaps it is not so much for us to find meaning in life as to give meaning to what life brings us."
I sit with all of that as the sun shines, and the moon is bright in the early morning light, and Christmas seems to be all around us, even as we settle into this season of giving thanks, and thanks giving.
So many people have offered to go with me tomorrow and sit with me. I am visualizing you all now as immune cells outside my body, offering protection and health for my intestines, stomach, heart, bone marrow, and mind. We are holding huge hands.
I thought I could be dropped off and picked up, but Jeff has come through the strongest on not agreeing with that, so he will be the one to go. I feel badly putting him through it, and so am struggling with understanding that for him it is a gift to be allowed to be there. Somehow today, it came to me what Thanksgiving truly means. I thought it was about Giving Thanks, but I see now that it is about Thanks Giving. I feel the difference, and I bend, deeply grateful to receive the giving of thanks from you.
A friend of Chris's, a co-worker died this week. I ask us all to bow our heads in offering safe passage and support for Gregory Miller in his transition, and great support, prayers, and love to his family and friends, as they struggle to understand how such a wonderful and well-loved human being could pass on so young.
Please pray today for peace, understanding, and healing for us all.
love,
cathy
