I let myself sit a moment in the beauty of this day. I took a tour of the yard early this morning, honored what is here. I have been rushing around way more than I would choose, and so I sit now to again locate the calm, still place within that activates us all. There is still a great deal to do but perhaps I could meet it more mindfully. I watched The Buddha on KQED last night. I am with the images and words, the magnificent beauty of Jane Hirshfield, W.S. Merwin, the Dalai Lama, and others. My word for today is "Awake."
Every day, priests minutely examine the Law
And endlessly chant complicated sutras.
Before doing that, though, they should learn
How to read the love letters sent by the wind
and rain, the snow and moon.
