Being Human
The Dalai Lama chuckles
at our attempts to meditate
and then fall into sleep -
The Gods look down
and know this being in a body is
not so easy,
like an egg being dipped in
pain, like paint
over and over again -
Each level of dye
deepens the lustre
until all colors
meet in the night-time sky
where after a time,
stars weave through,
and peer,
like eyes
