Singing

Today the song Waltzing Matilda popped into my head.  I only know the chorus and barely that, so I hum.  I thought Matilda was a girl, but checking it out today, I learn this is a song of tragedy.

When I was in Scotland, I learned the history of the song of Loch Lomond.  "You take the High Road, and I'll take the Low Road."  It, too, is a tragedy.  Is that what we do with sorrow, turn to song?
