He allows things to come and go.
His heart is open as the sky.
~ Lao Tzu
Today I was walking along the bay, enjoying the energy of the high tide, and observing inner and outer. Some people smile. Others look away, but all seem entranced with dredging in the bay. I wonder why we like to stop and observe machinery in action. A big bucket was shoveling up mud, scattering a great deal, and lifting and turning, so water could pour out, before the mud was placed on a barge. I wondered how it felt to the creatures who live in the mud to be lifted up and re-deposited. How did it feel to those who slipped out of the cage, and landed anew? For me, it was a lesson in trust that the journey is unpredictable, so it's up to me to choose how to enjoy the view.
