Gathering of the clan

Our family is gathering here today, so I'm up early too excited to sleep.  The birds are singing, and after all these clear days, the fog is falling slowly over the hill.  It's been like summer.   The fog feels the invitation.

A friend sent me this quote from Natalie Goldberg

Sometimes when you think you are done, it is just the edge of beginning. Probably that's why we decide that we're done. It's getting too scary. We're touching down onto something real.  It is beyond the point when you think you are done that often something strong comes out.

She is speaking specifically about creativity, but aren't we always creating?  It's not just about painting and writing, it's about each breath.  Perhaps we can breathe a little more deeply into ourselves, into tight places, and "touch down into something real."

That said, perhaps it is time to challenge the NRA.  Here's a good article addressing their power.
