Low Tide

I took my car in this morning for new brakes and an oil change and walked back home along the marsh.  It was low tide, and I saw a Great White Egret, a Snowy Egret, a Great Blue Heron, a Cormorant, and no babies at all.  Perhaps they were tucked, and perhaps they, too, sense a ripple of concern, and awareness, once again, that this moment is more precious than perhaps we can even imagine.

A friend posted a poem I love on FB.  I bring it here. Kindness by Naomi Shihab Nye.
