Good Morning!!

I loved waking to the sound of rain this morning.  It is a delight when we need it as much as we do.  I hear the plants taking it all in, and turning green with wiggled joy.

My brother sent me Muhammad Ali's book, The Soul of a Butterfly.   This book uses two different colors of ink and different fonts and italics to differentiate sections and ideas.  It tells me we can do the same with our book, so I am enthused to work today.   I am inspired.

The book itself is also inspiring.   I offer some quotes from it.

Love is a net where hearts

       are caught like fish.

                - Sufi Wisdom

True beauty is found in the heart of the beholder.

It is the heart that perceives beauty.

The outer beauty of a person must merge with the inner beauty
and become one.  This is the source of true beauty.

                                              - Sufi wisdom

May this be so for all of us today!!     Beauty and Heart!!    Heart and Beauty.   One!

Change of Perception -

In the Course in Miracles, a miracle is called a change in perception.   I have perceived winter as a time of hibernation, cocooning, but when I read the book True North, I saw that the Laplanders were using winter as productive time.  That is when they head out for the furs.  They harvest in winter light.

I spoke with a friend yesterday and this winter she truly is harvesting and fulfilling her dreams.  I feel inspired today to work on this book, and I seem to feel the productivity in these dark hours, the depth, and there is something so fine in this softer light that also sparks at times.  I am grateful for the cleansing rain and a day to work.

May you, too, harvest this day in a way that brings food to your heart.

Inspiration -

There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual—become clairvoyant.… We reach then into reality.… Such are the moments of our greatest happiness.… Such are the moments of our greatest vision. At such times, there is a song going on within us, a song to which we listen. It fills us with surprise. We marvel at it.… We would continue to hear it.… But few are capable of holding themselves in the state of listening to their song.… Intellectuality steps in, and as the song within us is of the utmost sensitiveness, it retires in the presence of the cold, material intellect.… It is aristocratic and will not associate itself with the commonplace—and we fall back and become our ordinary selves.… Yet we live in the memory of these songs, which in moments of intellectual inadvertence have been possible to us.… They are the pinnacles of our experience and it is the desire to express these intimate sensations, this song from within, which motivates the masters of all art.

I think the real artists are too busy with just being and growing and acting (on canvas or however) like themselves to worry about the end. The end will be what it will be. The object is intense living, fulfillment; the great happiness in creation

Robert Henri, from The Art Spirit (excerpted from Art as a Way of Life)

Smile in every cell -

" If someone is too tired to give you a smile, leave one of your own, because no one needs a smile as much as those who have none to give."
