Good Morning!!

Jon Carroll in his column this morning speaks of the joy of singing and connection and mentions this video.

It is great!!    Click and smile.

Jane and I are getting a response to Connectionwell so are busy with that.  If you want an invitation, it seems you can join without a writing partner, so let us know if you are interested.

Our intention with this is that you find someone to write with you at the same time you are writing to see how the muse enters when "two or more gather in his or her name."   There is augmentation, and writing is a way to know ourselves.  Think of Julia Cameron and The Artist's Way and the morning pages.  Let me know if you are interested.

Meanwhile, jump with joy.  Christmas Eve is one week away.

Also, Muir Woods will have a 100 year anniversary celebration on January 9th.   Read the inspiring story here.

Savor all that you can do, give, create, and receive each moment of this day.   Hooray!!

Connection -

I check out my new friend at Live Journal and I see that her blog is titled Listening at the Well.   It seems an interesting omen for Connection Well.

I take this from her blog.   She knows how to connect my blog to hers, but I haven't figured these things out, so will say that if you like my blog, I think you will like hers.  Hers is decorated for Christmas with a reindeer.  I've decorated my house, but not my site.  Oh, my!!

Love means to learn to look at yourself
The way one looks at distant things
For you are only one thing among many.
And whoever sees that way heals his heart,
Without knowing it, from various ills.
A bird and a tree say to him: Friend.
Then he wants to use himself and things
So that they stand in the glow of ripeness.
It doesn't matter whether he knows what he serves:
Who serves best doesn't always understand.

Oh, my!!   So, as you see, at the touch of a button, I can change my theme.   Is this too much?

I'll have to see what I think.   Oddly, now, it is back in its old form, but I'll see what happens when I push the button to post.  See how good I am at not doing the things I absolutely need to be doing.

Give time to celebrate along the way.

It is the time of year when each of us is more aware of giving.  Not only do we stretch our beloved heartstrings, but we can even tax deduct.  It is a win-win, and then, there are those who benefit.  We see their faces and feel their peacefulness as we journey through December days.

If you are sitting there looking for a good cause,  I have a suggestion.

I believe that therapy is what is going to change the world.  People have difficulty changing habits and patterns.  I have met people who were abused as children, and through therapy and somatic work, know they will not carry on the "tradition."   Therapy is the way we end wars, because we end the battles within ourselves, and within families.

My friend Elaine is the Executive Director of the California Counseling Institute.  They need money for their Client Assistance Fund.  100% of donated money goes to subsidize the nominal amounts low-fee clients are able to pay.   100%.

Without this additional money, the California Counseling Institute may not be able to continue.   According to Elaine, their "population of low-fee clients include students, the unemployed and marginally employed, the uninsured, elderly and chronically ill.  Many families with children are also among those for whom the Fund provides scholarship.  So far in 2007, over nine hundred therapy hours have been subsidized."

Looking for a cause?   $10.00 would make a difference.

If this cause speaks to you, if you know what it is to feel down, depressed, alone, then, send a check to:

Elaine Chan-Scherer,  LCSW

One peek -

I take a wee break and peek at Panhala and come across this lovely poem.

It reminds me of when I was trimming Rosemary the other day.  I made the cut and felt myself as the newly opened space and separation and the two parts and earth and sky.

Looking, Walking, Being
"The World is not something to
look at, it is something to be in."
-- Mark Rudman

I look and look.
Looking's a way of being: one becomes,
sometimes, a pair of eyes walking.
Walking wherever looking takes one.
The eyes
dig and burrow into the world.
They touch
fanfare, howl, madrigal, clamor.
World and the past of it,
not only
visible present, solid and shadow
that looks at one looking.
And language? Rhythms
of echo and interruption?
a way of breathing.
breathing to sustain
walking and looking,
through the world,
in it.
