It is Martin Luther King day, a day to celebrate a man of peace, men of peace, women of peace. We know them. We also know peace within ourselves. We can cultivate peace, choose.
Today is the day to pause and reflect on what we can do and be.
The storm warnings are still up but in the moment the rain is peacefully falling, a little pitter-patter reminder of all we share, breath, water and air.
Panhala posted this today:
Lord, who can be trusted with power,
and who may act in your place?
Those with a passion for justice,
who speak the truth from their hearts;
who have let go of selfish interests
and grown beyond their own lives;
who see the wretched as their family
and the poor as their flesh and blood.
They alone are impartial
and worthy of the people's trust.
Their compassion lights up the whole earth,
and their kindness endures forever.
(A Book of Psalms, translations by Stephen Mitchell)
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Oh My Word
What You Say Matters
Language is magic. While other animals have unique ways of communicating, language gives humans access to an amazing realm, where everything becomes symbolic. In the mind, the world takes form in words, creating meaning. Neuroscience is now discovering what spiritual traditions have long held - that our thoughts, which have electrical and chemical elements, are actually contained in identifiable forms within the brain by words.
This simple exercise will give you an experience of the incredible world language allows you to inhabit. Sit and listen to your breath. Allow the silence to bring you awareness and reverence. Once you begin speaking you will actually feel the weight and electrical charge of your words. Tune in to what you say and how you say it. Every word is vibration, with the power to affect others. Be conscious of how precious each word is and let them ring out, in all situations, clear, true and kind. Be the words you want to hear from the world.
