ahhhh

John Wooden dies -

I was at UCLA when John Wooden coached Lew Alcindor and others.  I would stop in at Pauley Pavilion to watch the practices, and, of course, the games were great fun.  What a gentleman he was!  I feel sad tonight when I read that he has died and he was 99 and lived a beautiful and inspiring life.  I was at the last game he coached when UCLA won the NCAA championship.  I've read the books he's written.  He was a truly honorable and ethical man. I feel sad to read of his passing and yet what a life he lived and what an example he gave.

John Wooden's Seven Point Creed was given to him by his father upon his graduation from grammar school:

Be true to yourself.
Make each day your masterpiece.
Help others.
Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible.
Make friendship a fine art.
Build a shelter against a rainy day.
Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day.
