alan - spring flowers

Silence -

I enjoy being alone with my thoughts.  I love meditation and looking at and smelling flowers. I admit to hugging trees.  They seem to invite me to wrap my arms around them.  The texture beckons, the trunk.  I do not understand what people are communicating with the constant need to chat and text.  I don't even listen to the radio anymore when I drive.  More and more I try to allow space inside.

I was reading recently that in the 60's drugs were taken to "open the consciousness."  Now, they are prescribed for focus.  I think of the tides, of how each of us needs to find our own balance on where to hold the oar and steer.   We need silence to know the currents of wind and sea.

The winds of grace are blowing all the time. You have only to raise your sail.

- Ramakrishna / Mystic / 1836-1886

I agree with Bob Herbert, "Tweet Less, Kiss More."  Especially, "kiss more," and hug more, too.   Hug this beautiful world!!

Use tongue, essence, being, to taste!
