A Must-Read!

I recommend everyone read the highly acclaimed Zeitoun by Dave Eggers.  I started it last night and couldn't stop.

It is a riveting story of an incredible family and the horror and injustice one man suffered because of, well, we all know what happened under the Bush administration when Katrina struck New Orleans, but this is an inside and personal story.  The government works when it comes to incarcerating innocent people in horrifying circumstances.  Rescuing people - perhaps not so much.

This is a book about Zeitoun who came here from Syria to build a business of conscience and live a moral life and he did and still does.

Perhaps the two inscriptions at the beginning of the book give a taste.

... in the history of the world it might even be that there was more punishment than crime....

An example of that is this:

Mark Twain said:

To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

All author proceeds from the book go to the Zeitoun Foundation, whose purpose is to "aid in the rebuilding of New Orleans and to promote respect for human rights in the United States and around the world."
