Honoring -

It is a spiritual time of year.  Today, some celebrate the second Sunday of Advent.  Others light another candle on the Menorah.   I am enchanted with the flame of the Maple trees.  Do I forget or is it that the wetness and gray are bringing forth a brighter light?

Perhaps it is related to the scent of evergreen or the inspiration in the burning of candles, but I seem more aware of my inner wick this time of year.  It is as though bliss splurts out like fireworks in the sky.  I am warm inside.

Blessings offer a wand and cheeks are pink.

The pause -

In Toastmasters I've learned that it is effective to pause when giving a speech:  one second at a comma, two seconds at a period, and three seconds with a paragraph shift.

I think we all appreciate the comedic talents of Steve Martin.  Who would imagine that an interview with him would not be scintillating enough, would need the suggestion of a stimulus.  This is an important comment by Steve Martin on what we might learn if we give a little more time when we listen to another speak. It is also a comment on the lack of respect for art.

The gift of you -

In gratitude for each of you, Rumi:

“You've no idea how hard I've looked for a gift to bring You.

Nothing seemed right. What's the point of bringing gold to the gold mine, or water to the Ocean. Everything I came up with was like taking spices to the Orient. It's no good giving my heart and my soul because you already have these.

So - I've brought you a mirror. Look at yourself and remember me.”
