Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart.

- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Last night the Toastmaster for the evening in our Toastmasters Club was Valerie Field.  We celebrated her 75th birthday.  When she and her husband were in their 50's, they decided to adopt orphaned, needy children from other countries.  The last of the ten is now an adult.   She is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.   She glows.

I love this last week of the "old" year.  It is a reflective time, a time of appreciation.  There is space to feel and cultivate more fully the language of the heart.

I am grateful to be alive, to see the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012, and maybe even the end of that.  It is the Year of the Dragon in the Chinese calendar.  It is a year for hearts to burn more fully with love and care.

One of my favorite children's books is The Reluctant Dragon by Kenneth Grahame, illustrated by Michael Hague.  Check it out.  It's message is peace and getting along, a beautiful message for any time.

Cheers!  Peace! Fullness!  Grace!
