Morning Thoughts

E.B. White: “I arise in the morning torn between a desire to save the world and a desire to savor the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”

This morning I wonder if there is a difference between saving and savoring. Can't each moment be both, encompass all? Perhaps it is about our definition of saving. Can we be satisfied with saving something really small, noticing that spider climbing up the wall and carrying it outside, honoring what we come across?

I was at the dentist yesterday, and they offer a tiny free toothpaste when you leave. This day there was something new. A plastic package held two items by Colgate, "Wisp Optic White". On the back I read that you use them once, no water or rinsing necessary. They whiten teeth, so in addition, to morning coffee in a disposable cup, one could pull out one of these, use, and toss.

I think of this video:

Maybe today each of us can notice, and use less plastic and disposables, as we save and savor at the same time.
