Light -

Those in tune will notice, well, those in the northern hemisphere, will notice and rejoice in the return of light, the slow lengthening of days.  The tissues respond, ah, another year, another cycle of light and dark, of growth and decay.  It is a time of birth.

Today I am with this quote by Rainer Maria Rilke:

Who has not sat before their own heart's curtain? It lifts: and the scenery is falling apart.
- Rainer Maria Rilke

May this turning of light, just like the turning of a kaleidoscope, bring new ways to view, interact with, and respond to light.

First day of winter!

In this season of transition, and birth, I am with these words:

"Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,

you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.

You must wake up with sorrow.

You must speak to it till your voice

catches the thread of all sorrows

and you see the size of the cloth.

Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore."

Naomi Shihab Nye from her poem "Kindness"
