The Heart of Friendship!

Last night the theme of my Toastmasters club was friendship. I sit with it now, what it means to me to be a friend.

One person spoke about Shasta Nelson's new book Frientimacy. A friendship includes three things: Fun, Vulnerability, and Consistency.

Now another sends this link: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/friendship-kindship-debra-oakland

Someone else posts the values of the organization she founded: http://www.heartofleadership.org/values/

And then links to this Brene Brown talk on boundaries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecb6ExBaW80&app=desktop

I read about Dogen and his journals. The Buddha-dharma goes beyond good, bad, neutral. Lately, I've been feeling expansion and contraction, and how there is a place beyond that, larger than that, a way to contain both, expansion and contraction, the rising and falling of bird wings, the rising and falling of tides.

I feel soft today, and strong.

It is summer - the sky is blue - the fog at rest - wind chimes chiming - birds singing - and all is warm and warms in my heart.

Opening to Music -

WHAT SHOULD WE DO ABOUT THAT MOON?

A wine bottle fell from a wagon and
broke open in a field.

That night one hundred beetles and all their cousins
Gathered

and did some serious binge drinking.

They even found some seed husks nearby
and began to play them like drums and whirl.
This made God very happy.

Then the "night candle" rose into the sky
and one drunk creature, laying down his instrument,
said to his friend ~ for no apparent
Reason,

"What should we do about that moon?"

Seems to Hafiz
Most everyone has laid aside the music

Tackling such profoundly useless
Questions.
