I sit here this morning, struck by the creativity. I am moved by it. This is a volunteer organization and members of the club created an evening to remember.
We had a guest who is working to stop fracking. I was unaware that fracking has now come to CA. It requires water, which In light of our current water situation, which will continue, makes it unfathomable to consider. And of course, there are the other issues. I learned last night that you may think you own your land, but six inches under, the mineral rights seem available to those who would come in, and destroy.
Anyway, it set up a quandary for me. How do I utilize my time and energy?
In this moment, I am with what I often say in my speeches. I speak of giving and receiving as one, of how, for most of us, giving is easier than receiving. There is a perceived vulnerability in receiving, and yet, it is a beautiful cycle of energy. I am grateful I received the "Best Receiver" award. I felt seen, and I felt my speeches are heard, absorbed, and integrated.
What moves me?
This morning I am moved by the people and energy in my Toastmasters Club, and I am moved by those who work hard to make this world a better place. We need to be vigilant and we need to play. We need to savor rain and sun, and balance giving as we receive.
