Today we enjoyed Nagoya Castle, and the Atsutu Jingu Shrine. The construction of the castle began in 1610. In 1945 during WWII, the main castle tower and Hommaru Palace were destroyed by a bomb from a B-29. The people of Nagoya asked for the main castle tower, the symbol of Nagoya, to be built again. It was rebuilt in 1959.
Being here, it's hard not to wonder when war stops. When do we release on "them" and "us"? I have no answers, just sadness, as we see castles, temples, shrines and gardens, and children everywhere, beautiful children everywhere. It is still spring break. The children go back to school next week. There is joy in the scented Spring air.
