Wisdom's Feathers -

Yesterday I spent time with a Great Blue Heron.  I had ridden my bike down by the marsh and there he was.  We hung out together as friends, comfort, companions.

Today I am with the counsel of Pema Chodrun from her book Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change.

She writes of three commitments we might make.

1.  Do no harm.

2.  Take care of one another.

3.  Embrace the world just as it is.

Embrace the world just as it is.

My friend Heron had a feather wound.  A few wing feathers were tattered and torn.  There he stood, content, slender legs in the water of the bay, head lifted to sip and receive, sky fragrant with the beat of wings.
