Listen tender

This morning I am with tenderness.  I am listening - a wind chime - garbage truck - earlier, an owl - now a crow - chirp - my ears feel tender, massaged, as the vibration of sound moves in and out, like breath.

Paul Tillich wrote that "The first duty of love is to listen."

The Toastmasters meeting last night touched each of us as high school students spoke of what they've overcome and learned from running with the support of a group.  The word "love" was used lavishly.  Love.  My ears are open and massaged with sound this beautiful new day.  Yesterday, rain and high tides meant I couldn't really leave the house.  Traffic was stopped, and that meant time to sit, listen, clean off my desk, well, a part of it anyway.  It's filled with cards and books, two plants, and seems to hold its own soil to nurture love.  May your day be blessed, your ears open, and deeply tender with message'd massage.
