My niece is twenty and is from Newtown, Ct. She has been working tirelessly to point out the changes needed in gun laws. Her family lost many friends in the Newtown/Sandy Hook shooting. At one point, they had lived across the street from the shooter.
When I was in Newtown in October, I saw a playground built with money donated by those who wanted to show they cared.
The conversations I overheard were about how people were coping - not well. The repercussions go on and on.
We all suffer with each bullet, each onslaught.
I know anyone reading this is for gun reform, so why do I type these words? My fingers need to move as my heart pulses with some need to understand what I simply can't. I'm not against hunting for food but this is not that. What is this? I don't even know.
What words might I place here? Breathe in the pain. Breathe out compassion. Light peace within.
