the news today -

Until this morning, I was unaware that Joan Kroc, widow of Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonalds, had left NPR $230 million when she died. Though NPR still needs our individual gifts, this money has allowed them the freedom to become a primary news source. They have their own journalists in Iraq.

Perhaps that news softens the other news of the abuses and tortures before and after Abu Ghraib. Paul Eaton, a retired Army major general who was in charge of the Iraqi military from 2003 to 2004 says today that Rumsfield is not competent and must resign. I think the whole crew should go. How can they not be punished for what has been exposed? I do not understand.

And the sun is shining, and it is a beautiful day. Take care. And may this resolve in some way of learning and understanding that means it absolutely never happens again to anyone on any side.
