Maya Lin -

Maya Lin, the architect for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., has a beautiful book called "Boundaries." I peruse it periodically, and today, is one of those days, as I am enchanted with in and out today. I sit inside, looking out on a rainbow of greens, and I have been outside,  touching leaves and stirring up the air, and lifting it up and down like a bird when it flies.

Maya Lin spreads these words across pages, pages with photos of the sea, sand, water, streams, and the plain white page.

I feel I exist on the boundaries.  0.01

0.02 Somewhere between science and art         art and architecture        public and private, east and west         0.03

0.04  I am always trying to find a balance between these opposing forces,         finding the place where opposites meet.   0.05

0.06      water out of stone        glass that flows like water       the fluidity of a rock        stopping time

0.08    existing not on either side    but on the line that divides    and that line takes on dimensionality      it takes on a sense of place and shape  0.09
