Good Evening!!

I am tired this evening, and, also, enjoying the beauty of the night. Today, I rode Robin, a most interesting horse, who loves the grass on the sides of the trail. It was instant feedback. My mind went to the view. Robin went to the grass. I was in control a good deal of the time, and Robin also had a chance to control. He is a strong horse, but we did go my way, though often with his mouth full of grass. Linda, who owns Miwok, said that for a horse walking along the trail this time of year is like a chocolate lover walking through See's candy. It helps with understanding to see it from the point of view of the horse, all that green grass after all this time inside in the rain. I understand.

I see that riding a horse is fun, and a bit of work. Posture must be erect. Control is through the legs. Heels are down. The hands do little. The point is to be relaxed, and to sway with the sway of the horse. I like that. You balance on your sit bones and pubic bone, keeping your weight in the center of the horse.

I met a woman out there who went through the horse cancer program a year ago, and has been taking lessons at Miwok ever since. Tears came to her when she talked to me. It brought her experience back. I feel matter-of-fact about the cancer experience in the moment, though I am experiencing discomfort and fatigue from the radiation, and so, it is. It is still not chemo, and that is perhaps the point. It was lovely to be outside.

The young girls at the stable are precious. I really enjoyed seeing them with their horses, and they are friendly and polite. Horses ARE good teachers.

So, my brain is mush. To bed, I go. I am fatigue tonight.
