Horses may help wounded soldiers walk again.
Soldiers and the horses from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, also known as The Old Guard, are part of a pilot program at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center to see if troops with prosthetic legs can regain some mobility through horseback riding.
I am also reminded today of the woman in my horse group who broke her foot. Jim helped her up on the horse, so she rode with her foot in a cast. She loved it, and said she felt the broken foot was another reminder for her to slow time and honor horse time. She hadn't learned the lesson well enough, so her broken foot was saying, "Rest". I think today was another lesson for me. I need to recognize what I want to do may not be realistic, so I pause and enjoy what is available to me which is rich and varied.
