"As a master hang-gliding pilot, Dan Murphy has survived many an accident over the years -- including the time when his glider broke apart 1,500 feet over the Rockies in Colorado and plunged to earth.
On Wednesday, the 48-year-old San Francisco resident was in the fight of his life. The man one friend described as "half-bird" has been in extremely critical condition since Monday, when a gunman shot him and another hang-glider pilot without provocation in a parking lot at Fort Funston, where Murphy had just arrived for a sunset flight over the Pacific Ocean."
Does this make sense? No. Is this a reminder to enjoy every single moment of this very precious life? Yes!! Prayers today for Dan Murphy!
In reading this, I lift out of my self-created misery and into a welcome sky, like a bird or hang-glider launched into flight.
I read today of the pollution in the skies in Alaska. We can't rumble all about in vehicles, gathering oil, and hope for anything different than that, and yet, change is difficult, unless it is demoting a planet, and, maybe that, too, was a challenging and tortuous decision for all. Anyway, in this moment, I give thanks for the grace of life, and pray for understanding the disparate, triangulated, and tangled sides. May we, and our planet, and all else, be well.
