Leatherback Turtles -

The rare giant Leatherback Turtle has been sighted off Point Reyes.  It is unusual for them to be so far north.  They can grow up to 9 feet long and weigh a ton.  One was seen gobbling jellyfish the size of dinner plates.    The Pacific Leatherbacks have decreased by about 95% in the  past twenty years.  There may currently be as few as 2300 breeding females.  One hazard is plastic bags which may be mistaken for jelly fish, so keep your bags in your pockets, and your eyes open for a most special treat.
