Steve and I walked to the marsh this morning. We left in clear skies and then droplets began to fill the air, and now, we are home and enclosed in soft fog. I love this first day of the year. I feel cleansed and clean. It is easy to write and remember the date - January 1, 2007.
Wow!!
I continue to place music on my ipod. I enjoy doing it. I listen to long-ago albums, (oh, I do date myself - CD's) and notice the titles. I enter more fully into the music this way. What I thought might seem a chore is a delight.
from The Hundred Thousand Songs of Milarepa
They asked the traveler where he came from,
where he was going. He replied, "I am coming from
behind my back, going in the direction I am facing."
Winston Churchill said, "The longer you look back, the farther you can look forward."
It seems a day to honor the past and look back, even as we harvest this midpoint, and step firmly forth.
Happy New Year's Day!!
The marsh was full and the bike path under water. I love this time of year!!
