To Start the Day -

Here is another poem from the book Jasmine Nights and Monkey Pluck:  Love, Discovery and Tea.

    Beginning

       At the ebb of night
             the new moon reveals
             a seam
at the edge of fabricated fullness.
             Dawn approaching
             empties shadow into light
bringing green to the shaded leaf.

       The owl calls three times
from the cavity of its chest
from the hollow of a tree
across the distance to the house.

In the palm of a hand,
        morning.
