Blossoms -



Today I was over at the Rosen center and a truck backed up and knocked branches off a newly blooming tree, and Jane brought the fallen limbs into the room and placed them in a vase, and they were so beautiful and I was reminded of this poem.   We only have a limited number of years to enjoy the blossoms that come each spring.   Feel the preciousness of each one.   This poem is by A. E. Housman.



Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now

    Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
    Is hung with bloom along the bough,
    And stands above the woodland ride
    Wearing white for Eastertide.

    Now, of my threescore years and ten,
    Twenty will not come again,
    And take from seventy springs a score,
    It only leaves me fifty more.

    And since to look at things in bloom
    Fifty springs are little room,
    About the woodlands I will go
    To see the cherry hung with snow.


            Enjoy the blossoming trees and new green leaves!!  

                         It is a miracle in deed!!
