Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I was awakened this morning to the radio playing a lovely Irish march. I hopped right out of bed. The fog has settled in after all these clear days and nights. What a surprise. There is an article in the NY Times on the food of Ethiopia, where the author, Danielle Pergament, says "the dinner table is an altar of thanks." They are grateful to have food and the beef is all grass-fed, and the food organic because there are no factory farms and the farmers can't afford chemicals. It is odd that in our country there is so much effort necessary to acquire pure, organic foods. When I went to the Ecofarms conference, and toured some farms, it was pointed out how the organic farm is often across the street from the non-organic and chemicals are sprayed and ground water is contaminated and so it is challenging for us to get food that is as clean as we expect, want and need. The birds are singing despite the fog and it looks like it is a low one that will quickly clear. It was such a surprise though and I see how I love the enclosure of it, the wrap. I like seeing moisture in air, and how this particular fog brings my eyes in close to see the trees rather than gazing out at hills. Again, Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
