When Jeff was two, he loved this day, and would happily shout, "Happy Fourth of the July."
I woke thinking of my kittens and how they love to play outside in their fenced area and on the deck. Their first trip outside was something new and they still stay aware and it is so important for them to explore. The Humane Society said to keep them completely inside and only let them out on a leash. I think it is important for each of us to consider how much freedom we give ourselves to probe, poke, discover and explore.
George Herbert, a Poet, from 1593 to 1632 wrote this:
He who cannot forgive breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass.
Forgiveness is a path to freedom and independence. Perhaps that is a purposeful focus for this day. One can eat, hold sparklers in hand and watch the sky splash with light while letting go of the hold of the past.
Happy Fourth of the July!!
