Pain -

When I read that the Bush administration seems to have won on removing the tops of mountains to get coal, I feel pain.

"The technique involves blasting off the tops of mountains and dumping the rubble into valleys and streams."

How would any of us survive without the top of our head?   How can we not value how unified a mountain?   Anyone who has walked a mountain from bottom to top and back again knows the shifts and sacredness of that energetic rise and fall, the change in landscape, plants, animals, and birds.

Bush will not go for technological changes or money for research to get us off oil.  He encouraged oil consumption with tax breaks for bigger  cars.   His motto is "Shop!"  "Drive!"    Now he would continue and expand the policy of blowing the tops off  mountains.   How heartless can we be?

Of course, for Bush it makes sense.  He doesn't use his head to think or bobble complex thought.  How could  he possibly realize the value of standing on a mountain and getting a global view?  He is not Edgar Mitchell looking back at the earth from space.  He lives in Texas where it is flat like his brain and his heart.
