Charles Schumer,, the Democratic senator from NY, explained in an editorial in the NY Times today why he is supporting Mukasey for Attorney General.
He says we need somebody strong, and this man is strong, and the alternative is to let Bush have no supervision at all, which, of course, is what he has had, but it seems that now we are attempting more awareness. It was clear what Gonzales was when he was approved. I could never believe he was approved, and here we are again. I do believe in the art of compromise, but it certainly seems to be skewed, when the country is unanimously against torture and water boarding and yet we approve a guy who won't deny it. Compromise means both sides give a little. What is given here?

Settle comfortably into the day, knowing that good and right almost always prevail.
