It is the time of year when each of us is more aware of giving. Not only do we stretch our beloved heartstrings, but we can even tax deduct. It is a win-win, and then, there are those who benefit. We see their faces and feel their peacefulness as we journey through December days.
If you are sitting there looking for a good cause, I have a suggestion.
I believe that therapy is what is going to change the world. People have difficulty changing habits and patterns. I have met people who were abused as children, and through therapy and somatic work, know they will not carry on the "tradition." Therapy is the way we end wars, because we end the battles within ourselves, and within families.
My friend Elaine is the Executive Director of the California Counseling Institute. They need money for their Client Assistance Fund. 100% of donated money goes to subsidize the nominal amounts low-fee clients are able to pay. 100%.
Without this additional money, the California Counseling Institute may not be able to continue. According to Elaine, their "population of low-fee clients include students, the unemployed and marginally employed, the uninsured, elderly and chronically ill. Many families with children are also among those for whom the Fund provides scholarship. So far in 2007, over nine hundred therapy hours have been subsidized."
Looking for a cause? $10.00 would make a difference.
If this cause speaks to you, if you know what it is to feel down, depressed, alone, then, send a check to:
